A. If your issues are as minor as these, or if you’re seriously about to pull your hair out with frustration over this week’s assignment, the SOAR Learning Center here at Texas Tech has resources that can help!
Lots, actually…the SOAR Learning Center provides free peer tutoring five days a week in subject areas including Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Math, Spanish, and more! Tutoring is drop-in, so no appointment is needed. However, you should definitely pick up a schedule to see when tutors are available for specific subject areas. Tutoring is offered in multiple modalities to help meet the needs of students on and off campus.
The Learning Center’s peer tutors are highly trained students who have earned excellent grades in the courses for which they tutor. In many cases there are multiple tutors for a given subject area, ensuring a broad availability for help that can accommodate almost any schedule. These tutors have been in your shoes, and their advice is invaluable. They can help you with homework and specific questions, and even suggest study or note-taking techniques. These tutors are passionate about what they do, and they want to help you succeed! You can visit with them in person in Holden Hall Room 080. They are open Monday-Thursday 8:00am-8:00pm and Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm.
For students who are not on campus, tutoring via the web is also a possibility. Via Internet Explorer and a quick installation of online tutoring software, you will have access to web-based help from the Learning Center tutors. Online tutoring is available in the following subject areas: Chemistry, Physics, Math, Biology, and Languages.
