The Pre-Law Academy is an exciting new opportunity for current Texas Tech students pursuing the field of law. This summer academy will give students 7 hours of TTU course credit that will count toward the Legal Studies minor while allowing them to work on various aspects of the law school application. Professors will teach the courses so as to give students an experience similar to taking coursework in law school. The application is competitive and the deadline to apply is December 1, 2012. Don’t waste any time in taking advantage of this great opportunity.
The Pre-Law Academy will take place from July 9, 2013 – August 2, 2013 during the Summer 2 Term. You will have the chance to learn from some great professors (Dr. Katie Langford and Law Professor Wendy Humphrey) in an environment that is very similar to law school. The following courses will be included in the Pre-Law Academy:
- Argumentation and Debate
- Legal Analysis and Advocacy
- Seminar in the Legal Profession
For more detailed course descriptions you can click here. Each of the courses fulfill a requirement toward the Legal Studies minor, so if you are working towards that minor, this opportunity is especially beneficial for you to consider. This is a great way to learn how to apply to law school, more about what lawyers do, and to brush up on your speaking and writing skills. Since this is the first time the Pre-Law Academy has been offered at TTU, you could be part of the first ever class! Go to the Pre-Law Academy website to find the application and learn more details.
